The council approved a general service agreement with HMC Service Company to provide on‑call mechanical, plumbing and HVAC services at the town’s wastewater treatment plant. Staff said the agreement is a rate sheet rather than a fixed‑price contract and was recommended because HMC was one of the few local firms able to handle the specialized work.
"HMC was most cost effective and really only one of the only ones in the area that could do that type of workforce," staff said. The agreement applies only to sewer‑plant equipment and not to other town buildings. The council moved, seconded and approved the service agreement by voice vote.
Staff said the wastewater director suggested the agreement be in place to allow immediate response to mechanical emergencies, including issues with headworks and screens, without delay while the town secures contractors under emergency conditions.
