Riviera ISD approves payments for Stronger Foundations K-5 and 6-8 math agreements

The Riviera ISD board voted unanimously Jan. 21 to approve payments to Education Service Center Region 2 for Stronger Foundations math agreements covering K-5 and 6-8 curricula, each dated Jan. 30, 2026. Motions to approve the K-5 payment (moved by Becky Gutierrez, seconded by Teresa May) and the 6-8 payment (moved by Becky Gutierrez, seconded by Crystal Ramirez-Garcia) both passed 6-0.
During discussion Mrs. May questioned why a payment appearing on the district's check register required board approval. Ms. Moreno clarified that the check register included a previously approved payment (from November) and that the current agenda items were for separate payments scheduled on Jan. 30. The board recorded the agreements by motion; the minutes list the vendor as Education Service Center Region 2 and the agreements by date.
