The board voted to approve Riviera ISD's 2026–27 instructional materials allotment and TEKS certification for K–12 English language arts, math, science and social studies. The certification, required annually, confirms the district will use state-approved instructional materials for the coming school year.
Trustees Teresa May and Crystal Ramirez-Garcia voted against the motion and raised questions about reported errors identified in the state-provided instructional materials. Ms. Dobson responded that the district is required to use approved materials from the state adoption process and that the state is currently addressing identified errors and making corrections for future updates. The board approved the certification 3–2.
