Riviera ISD reallocates $40,000 to address unexpected HVAC failures

The Riviera ISD Board of Trustees approved a budget amendment Nov. 19 to reallocate $40,000 originally intended for a small vehicle to fund urgent HVAC repairs.
Ms. Moreno said two additional air‑conditioning units failed since the last meeting — one in the high school science lab and another in the library — and the reallocation will fund their replacement and repairs to ensure operations through the school year. "Because of these unexpected failures, we are recommending reallocating funds to cover the replacement and repairs of these units to ensure we can get through the remainder of the year," Moreno said.
Board member Michael Valenzuela asked what the $40,000 was originally intended for; Ms. Moreno replied it had been budgeted for a small vehicle for training and travel. She also said she had engaged McNatt to begin surveying all AC units to plan a future cycle‑out program. Trustees voted to approve the amendment.
