Students present Black History pieces; council announces tax help and neighborhood updates

Students from District 152 1/2—Hunter Hilton, Mariah Eaves and Myah Eason—gave Black History presentations at the start of the Feb. 18 meeting, and Mayor Agpawa presented certificates to the participants. Mr. Darren Hughes thanked the city: “Thank you Markham for having us.”
Ald. Wanda McDowell announced that Markham will present a Black History Production next Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Council Chambers and that Assessor Cassanda Elston left flyers for Helping Hands Tax Network, which offers free tax help to seniors 65 and older with incomes of $65,000 or less (appointments Saturdays or Sundays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Ald. Brenna Hampton-Houser also told residents Public Works is clearing easements and warned of coyote sightings near Wood Street and Park Avenue.
