Neighbors say On the Nine disturbances persist; Commander Jones, city officials pledge enforcement

Patricia and Verdell Logan told the council that crowds and excessive noise from the venue On the Nine have disturbed their neighborhood for roughly three years, particularly on weekend nights. They described torn-down no-parking signs, tents on the property, loud music starting around 11 p.m. and public urination, saying enforcement to date has not ended the behavior.
“The noise is excessive, especially at night...This has become overwhelming and unacceptable,” Patricia Logan said. Verdell Logan added that family responsibilities (caring for a mother with dementia) make the nighttime disturbances particularly harmful. City Administrator Derrick Champion and Commander Jones said staff recently met with owner Ernest Sutton and that police will continue to issue citations, tow vehicles as needed and increase patrols; Commander Jones said he instructed evening roll call that such behaviors will not be tolerated.
Mayor Agpawa acknowledged the complaints and said the city is planning steps that require solid evidence and legal grounds before pursuing shutdowns or court action. City staff said they will bring the owner in for further discussions if the problems continue and will update the complainants privately about enforcement steps.
