The Rice ISD Board of Trustees held a regular meeting on April 29, 2026 at the district administration building. After a closed-session discussion of personnel under Texas Government Code §551.074, trustees approved three personnel actions in open session.
The board voted 5–0 (two absent) to terminate the probationary contract of Adam Bateman; to hire Jeremy Simmons as Rice Elementary Assistant Principal for the 2026–2027 school year; and to approve Cole Monreal as principal of Rice High School for the 2026–2027 school year. Motions were recorded with named movers and seconders: Jason Blake (mover) and Scott Black (seconder) on the termination; April Grant (mover) and Kim Hrnjak (seconder) on the Simmons hire; and Kim Hrnjak (mover) and Scott Black (seconder) on the Monreal appointment.
