Markham outlines sewer replacement, park design and grant awards; sewer bids due Feb. 11

City Administrator Derrick Champion provided several infrastructure updates at the Feb. 4 council meeting. He said bids for the combined sewer replacement project are due Feb. 11, 2026, and construction is anticipated to begin in March; the project is funded by Cook County as part of a climate-resiliency effort. "Bids for the combined sewer replacement project are due on 02/11/2026," Champion said.
Champion added that Cook County’s consulting engineer, Arcadis Inc., is finalizing the design for East Markham Park with construction expected in early April. He said the city was notified of a $245,000 award under the Cook County Water Affordability Program to support meter replacement prioritization, leak reporting, and resident education. Champion also said Green Alley Phase II construction is expected in late March/early April and that the city’s pre-application to MWRD was approved; the full application is due March 6.
