Council hears tier-2 water-notification delay and monitors reported leak

Mayor Lexie Mayfield and the Lumberport Town Council received a water-quality update during their Dec. 2 meeting. Allen Westfall said the health department's tier-2 violation letter needs to be made available to the public, but paperwork issues have delayed the notification; council accepted the report by motion (Micheal Stire moved; Richard Desist seconded; motion carried).
Westfall also described a leak first reported by Bill Keener that staff believe is caused by runoff in an area where a repair had recently been made. He said crews will watch the location closely and that no immediate remedial action beyond monitoring was reported at the meeting. The council took no separate vote to authorize repairs during the session.
