Valley View ISD approves joint-election contract with Cooke County

The Valley View ISD Board approved an agreement to conduct a joint election with Cooke County for the Nov. 4, 2025 ballot. "Motion by Ritchey to approve the contract for Election Services and Agreement to Conduct Joint Election - Cooke County; second by Pickett. The vote was 5 in favor, 0 opposed," the minutes record.

Under the contract the Cooke County Clerk will serve as the election officer and regular early voting clerk for Valley View ISD, will provide polling places, procure election judges and clerks, supply and program tabulation equipment, and serve as custodian of election records. The contract includes an initial cost estimate provided by Cooke County's Elections Department; Exhibit A lists an estimated pro rata cost of $4,125 to Valley View ISD (estimate includes polling locations, judges, programming and supply costs). The contract also requires the county to invoice the district after the election for actual costs and allows the county to bill the district for the district's pro rata share of final expenses.

The board approved the contract and administrative arrangements by unanimous vote and staff will coordinate candidate filing, ballot language, and post-election canvass responsibilities according to the election code provisions in the agreement.
