Board President Scott Hartman and trustees voted on Aug. 11 to call a School Building Bond Election for Nov. 4, 2025, in the approximate amount of $366,172,995.
The motion to adopt the Order Calling for a School Building Bond Election passed on a 5-0 roll-call vote. Trustee Cori Vahalik, who moved the action, said the district’s best path forward is to give the public the facts so voters can understand the cost and necessity of a new high school. "She understands that this is a large amount of money, and the best approach is to educate the public on the costs of a new high school," Vahalik said during discussion.
Trustee Elton Foster asked to see drawings of the proposed high school design and requested clarity about the location of land under consideration for future campuses. "I would also like to know the location of land that is being considered for future campus," Foster said, urging the board to consider the community that has supported prior bonds in site selection. Board President Scott Hartman noted past district spending on portables and the capacity pressures at the current high school.
Why it matters: the bond would fund facilities to address enrollment growth and relieve crowding at the existing high school. The board’s discussion focused on communicating the scope and costs to the community ahead of the election. The district provided no construction drawings or finalized site plan in the minutes; trustees requested follow-up information.
Next steps: The bond order sets the election date; administration is expected to provide design drawings, site specifics, and outreach materials to support public information before the bond election.
