The Maroa‑Forsyth C.U.S.D. 2 school board approved a bid from Johnco Construction, Inc. to replace the high‑school press box.
Board President Lindsey Wise moved the motion to award the contract after the district's Jan. 8 bid opening, which yielded six bids; JR Parker seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 6‑0. Board materials state the press box will be constructed off‑site and craned into place, with installation beginning after the last track meet in May.
District officials said funds for the project will come from the county school facilities sales tax, a revenue source the board noted may only be used for capital improvement projects. The board did not discuss an estimated dollar amount in the meeting minutes.
The decision follows the district's procurement process; the board voted to accept the lowest / best bid as presented by district staff and move forward with contracting and scheduling.
