The Maroa-Forsyth C.U.S.D. 2 board held an eLearning plan renewal hearing Oct. 14 in the high school library, where school principals outlined proposed plans that mix synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
GS, MS and HS principals described the proposal as a combination of live Google Meets and independent work, and said the plan emphasizes attendance and accountability for students and staff; "Five hours of instruction counts as a full school day," one principal said. The renewal would permit the district to use eLearning days in place of emergency days to provide more calendar predictability for families and staff.
Board members did not take a vote on the renewal during the hearing; discussion was limited to presentations and public comment. A parent spoke during the public comment period to express opposition to renewing the plan, according to the transcript. The hearing adjourned at 7:19 p.m. following a motion and a 6-0 vote to adjourn.
