Roma ISD superintendent: investigation found misconduct; individuals no longer employed, reports filed with state

Superintendent Carlos M. Gonzalez, Jr. read a statement to the board during the Feb. 5 special meeting describing the district's response to allegations of misconduct at Veterans Memorial Elementary School. "The District holds its educators to high professional standards, and the safety and well-bring of our students is always our top priority," the superintendent said in the prepared remark.

Gonzalez stated the district launched a "thorough and comprehensive investigation" after receiving allegations. "Based on the findings of that investigation, I can inform our school community that the individuals whose conduct was determined to fall below the standards and expectations of this District are no longer employed by the District," he said.

The superintendent added that, "in accordance with state law, the District has also made all required reports concerning these individuals to the State Board for Educator Certification and other applicable state agencies." The district emphasized it will continue to listen to parents, address concerns, and hold employees accountable when conduct does not meet district expectations.
