Superintendent Dr. Mid Johnson introduced proposed revisions to the Rusk ISD Attendance Procedures handbook related to extracurricular absences. The Board agreed to add five days for district competition and five days for post-district competition and then approved a motion from Dr. Montie Sunday to set caps: "a student shall be allowed in a school year a maximum of 20 extracurricular absences not related to post-district competition and a maximum of 15 absences for post-district competition." Nathan Acker seconded the motion.
The minutes record the motion as carried with a vote of 7 yes, 0 no. The change alters the district’s attendance handbook to codify the specified absence allowances for extracurricular participation.
