Rusk ISD cancels May 2 trustee election after candidates run unopposed

Rachel Thompson told trustees that a Certificate of Unopposed Candidates was posted on Feb. 20, 2026. The board recorded that Jacob Newman is elected to Rusk ISD Board of Trustees Seat 6 and Tara Hoot to Seat 7.
Nathan Acker moved to approve the Order of Cancellation and Dr. Montie Sunday seconded. The motion carried unanimously, 6-0. The minutes show the action as an administrative compliance step reflecting the absence of contested candidates.
