The Royse City Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 6-0 on March 25, 2026, to deny an expulsion appeal filed on behalf of Student C.W., upholding the District Hearing Officer's original decision. Trustee Mike Anderson moved to deny the appeal and added an expectation that "there will be a review before the last day of school regarding whether the student can return in the Fall," a motion seconded by Trustee Cindi Jobe.
The board recessed to closed session earlier in the meeting under Texas Government Code —51.071, —51.082 and —51.0821 to consult with legal counsel and to conduct the expulsion appeal hearing. After returning to open session at 7:01 p.m., the board recorded the vote as 6-0 in favor of denying the appeal with one trustee absent (Scott Muckensturm). Voting results listed Mike Anderson, Cindi Jobe, Eric Fort, Jessica Ratterree, Amanda Self and Bobby Summers as voting "Yes." The board's action upholds the district hearing officer's decision while directing a follow-up review about the student's possible return that is to occur before the last day of the school year.
