County counsel/staff presented Resolution 2026-30, which makes two designations for the 425 North project: naming the Tippecanoe County Highway Director as the employee in responsible charge for project responsibilities and naming Commissioner Murtaugh as the county’s designee under an interlocal agreement with the City of West Lafayette.
The presenter said the highway director designation clarifies who holds authority on the project in lieu of an INDOT designation for the work, and that the interlocal agreement requires each partner to name a designee to coordinate terms. "It designates the Tippecanoe County Highway Director as the employee and responsible charge as it would normally be under an in dot project," the county attorney/staff said. The board approved the resolution by voice vote.
Commissioner Murtaugh was referenced as the county’s representative because he had been leading county discussions on the project.
