Commissioners approve vacation of Pearl and Mulberry streets in West Point on first reading

The Tippecanoe County commissioners voted 3–0 on first reading to vacate two undeveloped platted streets (Pearl and Mulberry) and an alley in the West Point area so adjacent property owners can use the land.
Mr. Klein explained the parcels are undeveloped platted streets and alleys and that notices were sent to adjacent property owners and utilities with no objections. Pat Cunningham, a land surveyor with Vester and Associates, told the board the vacation was necessary after a property owner tore down a garage and will replace it, saying, "I would appreciate your approval of the vacation." The board heard no other public comment and scheduled the ordinance for second reading in two weeks.
The board approved the motion to hear and adopt the vacation ordinance on a 3–0 voice vote.
