Tippecanoe County approves rezoning to R1B to enable 372 single-family lots

Tippecanoe County commissioners on Aug. 3 approved Ordinance 2026-20 to rezone property to an R1B single-family residential district, a change county staff said will help complete street alignments and support 372 lots.
County planning staff told the commissioners the rezoning is a "small part of a much larger effort" to rezone to R1B and that the planning commission voted unanimously in favor. "The rezone you have in front of you is, for kind of a small part of a much larger effort, to rezone to an R 1 B zoning district for 372 single family residential lots," the planner said. Petitioner attorney Ryan Munden said the owner already holds R1B zoning immediately to the south and that rezoning the 7 acres would make the 88-acre development consistent and allow street alignments to proceed.
No members of the public spoke on the rezone during the hearing. The commissioners voted 3–0 to approve the ordinance. The petitioner said the rezoning had been a condition for plat approval and requested the board’s approval to move the development forward.
