Council approved a revised field rental agreement that sets a $250 nightly fee to rent the entire softball complex. Staff said the fee is intended to help recoup maintenance costs for mowing, painting, edging and lighting but acknowledged the price will not fully cover expenses. "This $250 is not gonna come anywhere close to covering what it costs for our recreation department or softball complex," staff said.
Councilors discussed comparables in neighboring communities, impacts on youth leagues and tournament organizers, and the option for groups to request fee waivers or adjustments through council. Staff said the fee will apply beginning Aug. 1 for the coming season and that they have engaged with league leadership in advance.
