Resident urges council to create holiday light display and family event

During public comment, Jerry Donaldson (132 Donathan Road) urged the council to consider organizing a community holiday light display running from Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve, suggesting businesses sponsor and compete to create a draw for out-of-town visitors. "Maybe people from out of town come by and and enjoy the display and spend a few bucks in town," Donaldson said.
Donaldson proposed using the expo building for part of the event, with family activities and a New Year celebration. He encouraged council and community volunteers to form a committee to plan the display, saying he had discussed the idea with local people over several years and that interest exists.
