French Valley resident asks council to pave short unpaved Menifee Road used as school shortcut

Dora Ridgeway, a choir teacher with the Murrieta Valley Unified School District and a French Valley resident, urged the council to add paving of a 0.1-mile segment of Menifee Road to the capital improvement plan or place it on a future agenda.
Ridgeway said the short unpaved connector between Clinton Keith and Los Alamos Road is critical for avoiding congested sections of Clinton Keith during school traffic, but that the gravel surface has large dips and uneven surfaces that cause vehicles to swerve and risk tire damage. She told the council she did not find the segment listed in the city’s published capital improvement plan and that attempts to reach municipal services had been unsuccessful.
“I ask that a motion be made to pave this road or that it be put on a future agenda,” Ridgeway said, adding the corridor matters for students and families trying to move across town safely. The mayor invited municipal staff to speak with Ridgeway in the foyer about timing and existing plans.
The council did not take action at the meeting but city staff said they would follow up and review whether the segment is in the CIP or could be scheduled for future work.
