Committee recommends BP Business Park zoning for annexed parcel near North Range Business Park
Summary
On Aug. 3 the Cheyenne Public Services Committee voted to forward an ordinance amending the official zoning map to assign BP (Business Park) zoning to a parcel annexed west of Round Top Road and south of Happy Jack Road; staff said the recommendation reflects surrounding zoning and the parcel’s current industrial use approval.

The Cheyenne Public Services Committee recommended Aug. 3 that the City Council adopt a zoning map amendment assigning BP (Business Park) zoning to land recently annexed west of Round Top Road and south of Happy Jack Road.
Connor White of the Planning and Development Department explained staff’s approach to zoning during annexations: "With any annexation, there's the assigned zoning. We look at surrounding zoning within the city as well as the current use of the property, and that's how we determine what staff recommends for the assigned zoning," he said. White noted the parcel is adjacent to North Range Business Park — which is largely BP zoning — and that the county had approved industrial-style use for a construction yard on the site. "So that's why staff recommended business park for this property," he said.
No public comment was recorded on the zoning item. A motion to approve the zoning amendment on third and final reading was made and seconded; the committee voted by voice and forwarded the ordinance to the City Council with a recommendation to approve. Final zoning designation will be set by the City Council if it adopts the ordinance on final reading.
