Santa Gertrudis ISD accepts trustee resignation, appoints Jesse Garcia to board

The Santa Gertrudis ISD Board of Trustees voted July 21, 2025 to accept Trustee Delia Perez’s resignation effective immediately and to appoint Jesse Garcia to fill the vacant seat.
Board President Oscar Cortez moved to accept the resignation; the motion passed unanimously. Cortez then nominated Jesse Garcia to fill the vacancy. Jennifer Cash seconded the nomination and the board approved the appointment 4–1, with Trustee Carmen Falcon recording the lone dissent. The meeting minutes record the yes votes as LeeRoy Montalvo, Francis Regalado, Oscar Cortez and Jennifer Cash and the no vote as Carmen Falcon.
Jesse Garcia was sworn in following the vote. The board had entered closed session earlier under Texas Government Code Sections 551.071 and 551.074 to consult with counsel and to consider the resignation and possible appointment before returning to open session at 8:46 p.m.
