Comal County approved an appointment and several equipment purchases during the May 8 meeting.
Constable Ackerman asked the court to appoint James Joseph Blake Alexius, a recent New Braunfels Police Department retiree, as an unpaid reserve deputy constable for Precinct 3; the court approved the appointment. Constable Ackerman said Alexius "retired from New Braunfels PD" and will help with radios and Motorola software.
Separately, the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 requested purchase of a Surface Pro 10, Surface Pro keyboard and a Dell curved monitor using the Justice Court Technology Fund because an iPad in use is incompatible with the Odyssey case-management system; the court approved the purchases so the JP can work on the bench and provide a larger desk monitor for staff.
