The finance committee recommended the purchase and the motion passed with a single no vote from Mister Moody.
Public commenter Charles Miller criticized the single‑source procurement and asked why competition was not solicited. Vicki Nemechek, Public Works director, responded that Samsara is the system currently in use on the city’s buses and that keeping the same system avoids higher costs associated with switching. "They already provide the hardware and the software that we use and will continue to use," Nemechek told the council.
