Rio School District trustees on May 20 reviewed a summer projects update and approved a series of solicitations and authority for the superintendent to award projects during summer months.
Assistant Superintendent Rafael Gaeta presented an overview of planned work: portable classroom renovations, exterior painting at multiple sites, restroom upgrades, playground improvements and relocation/renovation of the Plaza library into an OSFS facility. He identified funding sources as developer fees, CFD funds, Measure H, Measure L and matching funds. The board approved motions to solicit bids for RSD Project #26-09 (Rio Plaza exterior repaint), RSD Project #26-01 (Rio Real exterior repaint), portable refresh projects (#26-10, #26-12, #26-13), and RSD Project #26-02 (Rio Del Mar new playground), and authorized the superintendent to award projects during summer months.
On the consent agenda the board approved a proposed quote for furnishing and flooring the new Rio Plaza library, ratified additional work on Rio Del Sol turf area, approved purchase of playground equipment, and authorized 100 iPads for Rio Real and Rio del Sol (50 each) from SAM Labs. Most facilities and procurement motions carried unanimously; where roll calls were recorded the minutes show unanimous approval except where otherwise noted.
