The Scottsbluff Public Schools Foundation received a donation from Scott and Heather New to fund a 6,000-lumen court-projection system for the Scottsdale High School gymnasium and an initial content-creation fund. Staff told the board the foundation will make the purchase and manage a fund for future content needs.
"The donation came from Scott and Heather New," the presenter said, adding the donors will also provide $11,000 for initial content and create a foundation fund for future content maintenance. If approved, installation would occur in December with the system ready for use in January; the vendor provides a three-year warranty.
Board members asked about installation, maintenance and ongoing costs; staff said the donors will handle installation and the warranty covers defects for three years, after which the district would decide whether to repair equipment based on cost.
The board moved to accept the donation and recorded affirmative votes; the foundation will manage the purchase and an associated content fund.
