The Seminole Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 6-0 on Sept. 16 to approve an annual equity stipend of $4,000 for designated professional employees, including counselors, nurses, instructional coaches, librarians and diagnosticians.
According to the meeting record, Lance Wright moved the resolution and Herman Peters seconded it. The minutes state: "Motion was made by Lance Wright and seconded by Herman Peters to adopt the following resolution, approving and finding an educational and public purposes for an annual equity stipend in the amount of $4,000 for counselors, nurses, instructional coaches, librarians, diagnosticians, and other professional employees not eligible for the Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA)." The motion carried 6-0.
President Michael Wood called the special meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. at the district administration building, and the board recessed into a closed executive session at 7:04 a.m. under Texas Government Code §551.074 to consider the equity proposal for designated professional employees; the board returned to open session at 7:26 a.m. The minutes record no public comment during the open forum.
The action directs the district to make the specified annual stipend available to the listed categories of professional employees who are not eligible for Texas' Teacher Retention Allotment, as recorded in the board minutes. The meeting adjourned at 7:29 a.m.
