Board approves San Isidro ISD Local Wellness Plan

Trustees voted 5–0 to approve the San Isidro ISD Local Wellness Plan on Jan. 7. The motion was made by Velinda Reyes and seconded by Ricardo Vela. Superintendent Elsa V. Morris presented the plan and Mrs. Laura Villarreal clarified that the policy covers only food consumed during the school day and does not apply to after-school activities or weekends.
Trustees asked which classes would be served meals in classrooms; Superintendent Morris said PK3 and PK4 will receive classroom meals to allow adequate time to eat. The plan also references removal of non-nutritious foods from the school day; Mrs. Villarreal noted concession stand items and after-school food are not covered by the plan.
