Roski said the county’s housing rehab (referred to in the meeting as the 'chill' grant) was awarded for more than $400,000 and that the total figure is $500,000 when administrative fees are included: "we were awarded over $400,000. Actually, total was $500,000," he said. The county contracted with HTC to handle rehabbing homes; Roski said contracts are signed and the county is working on evaluation criteria prior to disbursing funds.
Roski also reported that MEDC-funded work to improve accessibility at a village park is progressing through studies and could begin in spring. He described a land-bank grant to fund demolition of two houses in Sandusky (including the Applegate House), one in Lexington and a rehab project in Brown City; the item is awaiting documentation from Sandusky before moving forward. Roski told commissioners that grant-related processes (RFPs, public meetings and signatures) typically take many steps and months to complete.
Commissioners thanked staff and noted the spending timelines; Roski said he expects several of the projects to move forward within the next six months as paperwork and requirements are completed.
