Shallowater ISD board sets May 2 election, approves joint contract with Lubbock County

The Shallowater Independent School District Board of Trustees on Jan. 12 voted unanimously to order a general election for two at-large school board trustees to be held May 2, 2026, and took a series of related administrative actions to run the election.
Alana Hayes moved to order the election; Kyla Hamilton seconded and the motion passed 7–0. The board also approved a joint election contract with Lubbock County and adopted a resolution to conduct a joint election with cities and other school districts that have territory in Lubbock County. The board approved the Notice and Order for early voting and election day procedures.
As part of the election preparations the board appointed Roxzine Stinson, identified on the agenda as the Elections Administrator, to serve as the joint early voting clerk and as the joint elections officer. The trustees also named the Elections Office at 1308 Crickets Avenue as the district's main early voting polling place. Each of those motions passed unanimously, 7–0.
The actions put the district on the official calendar for the May 2 election; the board also posted filing dates for candidates (Jan. 14–Feb. 13, 2026) elsewhere on the agenda.
