Seguin ISD’s Board of Trustees on March 24 approved D&D Contractors as the general contractor for construction of a deceleration lane at McQueeney Elementary under RFCSP 26‑01.
Trustee William Dwyer moved the approval, and Trustee Grace Mueller seconded. The board’s minutes note the RFCSP was competitively solicited on Feb. 13 and the procurement complied with Board Policy and Sections 2269.151‑.155 of the Texas Government Code. The motion passed with Ayes from Bright, Burns, Crettenden, Duncan, Dwyer, Guerra, and Mueller.
Trustees discussed traffic and safety later in the meeting when Joshua Bright raised concerns that the new McQueeney campus would open without an established school zone; Superintendent Jack Lee said the district must work with TxDOT and will report back. Trustee Alejandro R. Guerra suggested putting up temporary signage until a school zone is installed. The approved contractor award is entered in the board minutes and will proceed under the terms of the solicitation.
