Council approved a set of actions to enhance the city’s storm-warning capacity: authorization to purchase three outdoor sirens from Federal Signal Corporation using previously awarded DCEO grant funding, an intergovernmental agreement with Florida Fire Protection District allocating ownership, installation, maintenance and cost-sharing responsibilities, and a maintenance-services agreement with Braniff Communications for annual inspection and preventative maintenance at a total annual cost of $1,280.
Council discussion noted the purchases would be funded with grant money and that the intergovernmental agreement clarifies long-term responsibilities. The purchase and both agreements passed by roll call votes (the purchase motion recorded six ayes, one nay, one absent; the IGA and maintenance agreement recorded seven ayes, one absent for the IGA and similar support for the maintenance contract). The mayor and city clerk were authorized to execute the documents.
