Select Board reviews priority list, asks for comprehensive-plan update after Aug. 16 community forum
Summary
The board reviewed its prioritized ‘parking lot’ list of items to track for the coming year, discussed land-use ordinance timing for November ballot inclusion and asked the comprehensive-plan committee to present an update after community forums scheduled Aug. 16–17.
At its July 21 meeting, the Town of Wayne Select Board reviewed last year’s priority list, clarified completed items and asked staff and committees to focus on time-sensitive items.
Shannon walked the board through completed work items (including the Ladd Recreation Center ordinance and the Aging at Home ordinance) and noted land-use ordinance updates remain to be finalized. Board members emphasized the timing required to place ordinance language on the Nov. 3 ballot: final language and a referral charge must be ready to send to counsel and the town clerk roughly 60 days before the election, which requires work at the August meetings. One member recommended that the board seek legal review no later than the second meeting in August to meet that timeline.
The comprehensive-plan committee is holding community forums Aug. 16–17 and the board asked that committee to present highlights and a status update after the forums; Shannon said she will add that presentation to the Sept. 1 agenda. Board members asked staff to number and prioritize items so the board can schedule key actions across upcoming meetings rather than allowing items to languish on the list.
