Snyder ISD Board Approves Adding Fourth School Resource Officer; Cost Up to $360,000

The Snyder ISD Board voted on Feb. 12, 2026 to increase School Resource Officer staffing from three officers to four for the 2026–2027 school year, approving the SRO memorandum of understanding with a projected cost cap of $360,000. The motion to approve the SRO MOU was made by Chad Arnwine and seconded by Jennifer Taylor; the board recorded unanimous support.
District materials presented at the meeting said the expansion would strengthen coverage, visibility, and response capacity and would allow the district to meet requirements tied to HB3 by having armed peace officers at each campus and eliminate the need for an annual good-cause exemption. The district also said it will continue the School Guardian program, maintain recruitment, and provide ongoing training for SRO and guardian personnel.
