The Slaton Independent School District Board of Education accepted the canvass of the recent bond election on May 12, 2026, after Art Martin, the district chief financial officer, reported that Proposition A passed. Mr. Martin told the board there is a required 30‑day waiting period before the district can advance with bond sale preparations.
Mr. Martin said the district will work with architects and financial advisors to prepare project plans and bond marketing materials and noted that preliminary property values have been received. He said certified property values are expected by July 25, after which the district will “look to sell bonds.” The board took no additional formal action beyond accepting the canvass and declaring the results valid.
