Slaton ISD board approves 4‑day instructional-week calendar for 2026–27

The calendar provides two nine-week grading periods per semester and 165 teacher and staff work days. Trustee Kara Newcomb moved to accept the administration's recommendation; Gabriel Johnson seconded the motion and it passed unanimously among the four trustees voting (4–0).
Board materials indicated the calendar mirrors the prior year’s schedule; no changes to instructional minutes per year were listed in the minutes. The board did not record amendments to the calendar at the meeting and did not discuss implementation logistics such as transportation or childcare during this vote.
