Lieutenant Colonel Peter Graczykowski of the Dukes County Sheriff's Office presented the town's share of the Martha's Vineyard Public Safety Communications System maintenance budget for fiscal 2027, saying the Tisbury portion is $49,276.41. He described the cost-allocation formula as “50% split equally 6 ways and 50% by Town dispatch numbers,” and noted that Tisbury logged 9,126 dispatches out of 42,155 islandwide in 2025.
Graczykowski told the committee that the system includes the Regional Emergency Communication Center (RECC) handling all 911 calls and islandwide services for police, fire and public works. He also noted that the initial system upgrade was funded in part by an $8.2 million development grant and that federal grants for ongoing support are currently unavailable. The presentation emphasized that maintenance contracts cover on‑island repairs within 24 hours for system equipment and generators.
FinCom members said they appreciated the presentation and the stated formula’s equity, but also discussed how tracking false fire alarms via the RECC could help increase fire-department fee revenues. The committee did not vote on the warrant article at the meeting; the presentation served as the FY27 maintenance-cost briefing.
