Caryl Park parking and pickleball project set for separate Town Meeting warrant article

Director of Parks and Recreation Mark Ghiloni told the commission the Caryl Park parking lot and pickleball court project will be presented as a separate warrant article at Town Meeting and on the May 18 ballot. He said the improvements address drainage, pothole and accessibility problems and are the next phase of a site plan that already included recent tennis lighting upgrades.
The capital project was removed from the main capital article by the Board of Selectmen and will be brought forward as a debt-authorized article alongside two other projects. According to the minutes, each project will require a two-thirds majority vote for approval. Ghiloni will likely present to Town Meeting and plans to stress that combining parking and court work reduces mobilization costs and minimizes repeated site closures. The commission noted growing local and national participation in pickleball as part of the rationale for the project.
