The Scurry-Rosser ISD board voted to approve the district's plan to meet teacher certification requirements under House Bill 2. The motion was made by Drew Sloan, seconded by Michael Wagner, and the motion passed 6-0 with one absence.
Heather Jestis presented the plan and said the district would request extra time to achieve 100% teacher certification. When board member Michael Wagner asked how many non-certified teachers remained, "8 was the response." Jestis said she is working with building principals to identify which certifications are required for each assignment and to prioritize certification pathways.
The board approved the plan as presented; implementation steps include staff guidance to principals and timeline monitoring to meet HB2 requirements.
