She described technical improvements in the TASER 7, including rechargeable batteries, smart diagnostics that monitor battery health and device readiness, and a tilt‑select feature that allows quick selection of cartridges for different engagement distances. "I'm confident that upgrading to the Taser 7 will not only modernize our equipment, but also enhance the safety and efficiency of our operations," Flores said.
The requested bundle included 10 devices, 10 holsters, 12 rechargeable batteries, a docking/charging station, a train‑the‑trainer voucher, training equipment and five years of required software licenses (Evidence.com) and service. Commissioners discussed the apparent upfront cost being higher because the software subscription is prepaid for five years; staff confirmed the tasers themselves are owned by the county and that future renewals would be separate. A motion to approve the purchase passed on a voice vote.
