County staff told the court the intersection is skewed and does not meet the required sight distance for a 30 mph approach (200 feet), and recommended a stop sign for safety. Staff said traffic at peak times and boat‑ramp traffic make the location particularly susceptible to risky yield decisions. "We were not able to find we were deficient in those side distances," staff explained when recommending the sign.
Resident Dave Glasscock, who lives at 1944 Lakeshore Drive, urged caution and presented his own short‑term counts, saying the majority of traffic currently flows from Cranes Mill to Canyon Shores and suggesting any sign might be better located on Cranes Mill. "From what I saw, I'd like to see a traffic count," Glasscock said, urging the court to review empirical data before finalizing placement.
Commissioner Webb moved to approve the placement as recommended by county engineers; Commissioner Crownover seconded. Commissioners asked staff to review traffic counts over time to confirm patterns and monitor the change. The motion carried on a voice vote.
