Council tables solar and accessory-dwelling ordinance proposals, refers others to planning

The mayor submitted an ordinance (M2) to amend Chapter 9 of the comprehensive zoning code to add a section on solar energy systems and a separate ordinance (M3) addressing accessory dwelling units. Councilors moved to refer the solar ordinance to the planning board and the committee on ordinances, but Councilor Linda Morad asked to table the item and the body voted to table M2. The ADU ordinance (M3) was also tabled on a motion from Councilor Morad.
Councilors said they were exercising caution and described the tabling as a way to request more respect and information from the administration before advancing zoning changes. Referrals and tabling were recorded by voice votes during the meeting.
