Board approves multiple contracts on consent agenda; legal-services contract fails

At the June 3 meeting the Rio School District board approved a broad set of consent-agenda items including minutes, personnel actions, ratification of the commercial warrant for May 8–21, 2026, and multiple vendor contracts for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The board recorded approval of contracts for speech therapy, staffing agencies, healthcare providers and a notice of award for the district grocery bid to Sysco.
One consent-item vote failed: approval of legal services with the firm Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud and Romo for Sept. 1, 2026–Aug. 31, 2027 failed on roll call (Yes: Felix Eisenhauer, Alesia Martin; No: Emmanuel Mejia; Trustee Eleanor Torres not present). Other pulled items had been moved to discussion earlier in the meeting; the minutes do not show additional amendments to contract language in open session.
