District staff briefed the Snyder ISD board Jan. 29 on two personnel and safety items: a proposed compensation plan change for bus drivers, and a plan to increase School Resource Officers.
For compensation, staff reported the current pay structure is $30 per hour for route travel and $15 per hour for field trips; they will recommend in February establishing a uniform hourly rate of $30 for all bus driver work to improve equity, recruitment and retention.
On school safety, the district—working in partnership with the Snyder Police Department—reported it currently has three School Resource Officers (SROs) and proposed increasing to four SROs for the 2026–2027 school year to align with HB3 requirements and eliminate the need for a yearly good-cause exemption. The item was presented for information; no vote on either change was recorded at the Jan. 29 meeting.
