Sinton ISD board honors students, staff and coaches at May meeting

The Sinton ISD Board recognized Students of the Month across campuses, named Cheryl Handy Pirate of the Month, and presented UIL/FPS and Teacher Incentive Allotment recognitions; Assistant Coach Stephen Silva received a statewide assistant-coach honor.
The Sinton Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its May 18 meeting with presentations honoring Students of the Month from Welder Elementary, Sinton Elementary, E. Merle Smith Middle School and Sinton High School and naming Cheryl Handy of the Ag. Extension Office as Pirate of the Month.
The board also recognized UIL and FPS finalists and recipients of Teacher Incentive Allotment awards. During the meeting Coach Michael Troutman presented a special recognition to Assistant Coach Stephen Silva, who was named one of Texas’ 50 Assistant Coaches; the award was announced in Coach Troutman’s remarks but Coach Silva was not present to accept it. These recognitions were presented during the regular meeting’s presentations and awards period.
