Prior to the vote, a group of teachers — Morgan Hamrick, Valarie Willingham and Heather Rahm — registered during the public forum as representatives of campus calendar committees and asked the board to consider the number of teacher days, the allocation of bad-weather days and placement of staff development and teacher work days. The board approved the calendar with the reclassifications described in the recommendation.
Board members said the changes were intended to provide clarity for staff planning and to align district breaks with higher-education partners. The minutes record the vote and the two dissenting trustees; no further amendments were recorded.
