Derrick Machado, the district irector of Technology, told trustees the district is evaluating an enhanced Ricotta camera system that could include facial-recognition and weapons detection capabilities and described the work as "a high priority." John Dilena said the district will bring in a security consultant to assess fencing, cameras and weak points at each site and provide recommendations.
Trustees were not asked to approve a contract for camera upgrades at the session. Staff said the consultant—indings will inform site-specific recommendations and cost estimates that will be returned to the board for action.
